Cleopatra would be absolutely jealous of the products that I had a chance to try this weekend.
Back in July I saw article about NYL Skincare. Carol Sondesky, the founder of the brand, was talking about how and why she developed her cosmetic line of products. She was obsessed with the food she was eating. So she had to ask herself. Shouldn’t the products that we put on faces be as clean as what we are eating?
Carol discovered that really simple products can be super effective, feel very luxurious and be 100% natural (cosmetics with shelf life of up to 4-5 months). The list of what the NYL Skincare products don’t contain is longer than the ingredients list.
Nyl cosmetic has:
- No animal testing
- No animal products
- No synthetic preservatives
- No made-man chemicals
- No parabens
- No petroleum products
- No mineral oil
- No gluten (This is something that is extremely important to me)
- No toxins
- No artificial fragrance
- No artificial colors
- No nut oils or nut products
In these cases a “No” is infinitely better than a “Yes”.
Despite some shipping problems (from USA to Spain) I received my purchase in September (instead of August). Carol was so kind enough to upgrade my order to the Starter Kit so I could try more products. It is the small touches and customer care that make some brands stand out.
First of all I would like to say a couple of words about the packaging. It is really eco, simple but very purposeful. In a little reusable straw bag that easily fits 4 products. If you do not need need to carry many products this is something that you take with you to the gym. Carol also put in little cards with description of each bottle. You will be sure how to use each product.
Rosewater Face Wash. Only organic rosewater, vegetable glycerin, organic castile soap, water, organic coconut oil, castor oil, citric acid. Very organic!. It gently cleans your skin. I use makeup, so I need to use some milk or gel to remove it and then I use rosewater.
Velvet Transformative Serum. Absolutely heavenly. Main ingredients blackberry seed oil, argan oil and grapeseed oil. I do a light massage before I go to sleep and it really works! You only need 1-2 drops otherwise it will feel too oily.
Organic Whipped Hand & Body Lotion. Includes vitamin E, organic meadowfoam seed oil and grapefruit oil. Very rich cream I would recommend to use at nighttime, because it takes some time to absorb completely.
Gentle Sugar Body Polish. A simple blend of organic sugar & oils. Exfoliates, moisturizes and improves circulation. I am sure that it works together with hand and body lotion. It smells amazing!
I love the smell of these products, the textures and the gentle effect. I would like to have kind of perfume water with this sweet and bitter rosmery smell.
These products are 100% natural and you can not keep them more then 4-5 months, I would suggest to storage them in a fridge as that reduces the rate at which organic products decompose and I personally like when my cosmetics are a bit cold since that adds a freshness effect and kind of free lifting effect.
